In Slack's ecosystem
Slack [NYSE: WORK] was founded in 2009 by Stewart Butterfield, Eric Costello, Cal Henderson and Serguei Mourachov as an internal tool for a game development company before pivoting to become a business communication platform. They launched publicly in 2013 and quickly became popular for their approach to team collaboration.
The platform has channels for organized conversations, direct messaging, integrations with many 3rd party apps and a search function. Slacks product is designed to centralise work communication, get you out of email and make real time collaboration with your team easier.
In 2021 Slack was acquired by Salesforce for $27.7 billion, the largest deal in the tech space at the time.
