Salesforce [NYSE: CRM] was founded in 1999 by Marc Benioff, Parker Harris, Dave Moellenhoff, and Frank Dominguez. Originally focused on CRM software via the cloud, Salesforce has since grown to offer many enterprise software solutions including sales, customer service, marketing automation, analytics and application development tools.
They are credited with creating the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) business model, so companies can manage customer data without on-premise software or infrastructure. Salesforce has grown to be one of the largest enterprise software companies in the world through organic growth and strategic acquisitions like Tableau, MuleSoft and Slack. They are also known for their philanthropy with a “1-1-1” model where they give back to the community.
The Salesforce AppExchange is an app marketplace. It’s a directory of apps and integrations that extend Salesforce products. AppExchange has thousands of partner built solutions for sales, marketing, customer service and analytics.
