In Recurly's ecosystem
Recurly was founded in 2009 by Isaac Hall and Dan Burkhart. The company provides a cloud-native Subscription Management & Billing Platform that lets digital and physical-goods brands spin up plans, orchestrate payments in 140+ currencies, and curb churn with AI-powered retries and dunning, without having to build or maintain a custom billing stack.
After a handful of early seed and Series A rounds, Recurly accepted a majority investment from Accel-KKR in August 2020. Operating cash-flow-positive ever since, it now supports more than 2,200 merchants, together serving roughly 67 million subscribers, and processes well over $10 billion in annual transaction volume, putting the business firmly into nine-figure recurring-revenue territory.
Innovation has only accelerated: the Spring ’25 launch introduced Recurly Compass (an AI insights and playbooks suite) plus native Shopify, BigCommerce and Adobe Commerce integrations. On May 7 2025 Recurly acquired Redfast and Prive to weave real-time engagement and ecommerce subscriptions directly into its stack, the same week SubSummit crowned it 2025 “Best Subscription Management Platform.”
